Code of Ethics

The Massachusetts Real Estate Investors & Apartment Owners Association hereinafter referred to as MASSREIA. Members of MASSREIA treat this organization with the utmost professionalism.

The MASSREIA member is civic-minded and operates according to the highest ethical standards. The MASSREIA member should recognize that the interests of the community require the highest and best use of the land and its buildings. The MASSREIA member recognizes the need for adequate housing and the preservation of a healthful environment. The members of MASSREIA share a common responsibility to maintain and improve housing. The letters M-A-S-S-R-E-I~A will be synonymous with competency, fairness, and integrity, and honor.

By accepting these standards, every MASSREIA member pledges to conduct his business in accordance to the articles set below:

               I.      The MASSREIA member shall provide only safe and sanitary housing, if any shall be provided at all.

             II.      The MASSREIA member should keep themselves informed on matters affecting housing in their community.

           III.      The MASSREIA member shall keep themselves informed regarding local, state, and federal laws affecting their business and their community.

           IV.      The MASSREIA member will not discriminate against any person for reasons of race, age, religion, creed, sex, country of national origin, children, marital status, or disability.

             V.      The MASSREIA member will recognize that property residents and buyers are our customers and we are in a service industry and a “people” industry.

           VI.      The MASSREIA member has an obligation to help another member whenever possible.  The surest way to get what you want is to help other people get what they want.

         VII.      The MASSREIA member understands and agrees the truth that there are plenty of “good deals” out there for everyone and that we will truly accomplish a greater level of success through the benefits of our relationships together than we otherwise would without those relationships.

       VIII.      The MASSREIA member will not engage in any illegal practices and will always conduct themselves in a professional manner.

           IX.      The MAREIA member will not cheat, wrong, or defraud any other member, owner, resident or MASSREIA itself.

             X.      The MASSREIA member will be aware of the needs and concerns of our community and as a property owner and/or property dealer, will make every effort to respond to those needs and concerns.
